Iranian experts build light concrete, lessening quake loss
Iranian experts in a company in Isfahan, central Iran, have designed a light type of concrete which is two times lighter than conventional concretes and lessens the degree of earthquake damage.

The concrete is only 1500 kg on cubic meters.
"The concrete can tolerate more pressure and can withstand larger load because of its special minerals," said Milad Nekouei, an expert of the company.
"Light concrete is one of the major construction materials with many applications. Light concrete as a material whose density is pretty less than conventional concrete plays a key role in lessening the buildings weight, especially in their non-constructional sections," he added.
The light concrete can be applied in lightweight ceiling blocks and wall blocks as well as flooring concrete and making slope.
According to Nekouei, the lighter the building concrete, the lesser the building will be destroyed. The newly-designed concrete with reactionary capability can be shaped better and is more flexible.
The light concrete has a nano-cover protected against water and contamination.
There are many holes inside conventional concrete, making it very easy for water to penetrate and destroy the concrete in winter as it is frozen. The nano-cover prevents water leakage into concrete.
