Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, in his message forwarded on Monday, congratulated President János Áder and the people of Hungary as they celebrate the anniversary of their independence on October 23.

President Rouhani stressed strong support for mutual efforts between the two sides for further development of relations in various fields and expansion of international cooperation.

He also prayed for the president’s continued health and success, as well as the nation’s felicity and prosperity.

In Hungary, October 23 marks the memorial day of the 1956 Revolution which aimed at the departure of the Soviet troops from Hungary and free elections. The date of the country’s State Foundation Day is August 20 which is celebrated with fireworks.
