UN's Guterres urges lifting unilateral US sanctions against Iran

In his 13th report on the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2231, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed the need to lift unilateral US nuclear sanctions against Iran as well as Iran's enjoying economic benefits.
The UN Secretary-General presented his 13th report on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 to the Security Council last week.
 
In this report, much of the literature of which is similar to previous periods, the Secretary-General continues to cite JCPOA as the best option for resolving the Iranian nuclear issue and multilateral diplomacy.
 
 In his report on diplomatic activities in the form of talks for returning all parties to their commitments in accordance with the UN Security Council, the Secretary-General welcomed close and effective cooperation between the parties to the issue.
 
At the same time, the Secretary-General stressed the need to speed up these activities and avoid delays in the negotiation process, and called on Iran and the United States to show more flexibility in resolving the remaining issues on the way to restore the JCPOA.
The UN Secretary-General emphasizes the need for the lifting of unilateral US nuclear sanctions against Iran and Iran's enjoyment of the economic benefits of the JCPOA.
 
In particular, it reiterated its call on the United States to lift sanctions related to Iran's oil field, which could facilitate the process of reviving JCPOA. At the same time, the Secretary-General regretted Iran's nuclear remedial measures.
This report refers to the correspondence of Western countries and Israel regarding Iran's missile program and allegations related to the violation of Resolutions 2231, the responses of the Islamic Republic of Iran to these allegations and addressed Tehran's positions regarding the legitimate and conventional nature of Iran's defense, missile and space activities. Considered.
 
 In this report, the efforts of Western countries to raise regional issues and the claim of sending missiles from Iran to Yemen have failed, and the Secretary-General has avoided any conclusions and confirmation of these claims.
 
Pursuant to UNSCR 2231, the Secretary-General's report is presented every six months at a regular meeting of the UN Security Council, and the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to New York will address the meeting.
 
The atmosphere of the Security Council meeting is expected to be affected by the previous agreements reached, the visit of the EU High Representative to Tehran and the ongoing talks in Doha and also, the focus of attention should be on the priority of the process of diplomatic actions and negotiations to fully revive the provisions of the JCPOA and to repeat the previous positions of the countries.
