'Siding with oppressed nations is must upon governments'

"According to article number 154 of Iran's Constitution, Islamic Republic of Iran held humans' salvation as its ideal," stressed Tabriz representative in Majlis.

"According to Article number 154 of Iran constitution, Islamic Republic of Iran held humans' salvation as its ideal," stressed Tabriz representative in Majlis, Ahmad Alireza Beigie noting, "Independence, freedom and justices, to Islamic republic, is all people's right.

"The Islamic Revolution, while refraining from interfering in government affairs, defends all oppressed people and side with them against the arrogance," pointed out the religious cleric stressing the constitution set such mission for Islamic republic.

"For backing defenseless and innocent people against religious extremists, it is incumbent upon us to use all the means and ways," highlighted the parliament member.

"We expect government to take a serious and bold stance on the implementation of this principle, showing this support for the oppressed in practice," mentioned Beigie.

The political face urged the government to make a move against the ongoing brutal crackdown on the Rohingya in Myanmar.

Tabriz representative in Majlis demanded all Islamic countries to take effective and swift measures to put an end to such tragedies.

A new wave of violence broke out on August 25 after dozens of police and border outposts in the state of Rakhine came under attack purportedly by a group claiming to be the defenders of the Rohingya. The alleged assaults were launched in response to a government clampdown in the area, where over a million Rohingya are based.

Since then, counteroffensives by Myanmar’s army have killed at least 400 people, burned thousands of houses, razed a large number of villages and depopulated vast swathes of land in Rakhine.

However, Myanmar’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi has dismissed the Rohingya crisis as a misinformation campaign, rejecting the occurrence of any clampdown on the minority.
