UN: Cholera is being fuelled by warring parties in Yemen

The United Nations yesterday condemned all parties to the Yemen civil war for fuelling the cholera epidemic, reported Reuters.
UN: Cholera is being fuelled by warring parties in Yemen
Cholera cases have reached 320,000 with 1,742 deaths in Yemen. The infection triggers uncontrollable diarrhoea, vomiting and muscle pain.
Aid Chief Stephen O’Brien reported to the Security Council that the number of people who had contracted the illness was much higher than numbers show as remote areas cannot be reached by medical staff.
This cholera scandal is entirely man-made by the conflicting parties and those beyond Yemen’s borders who are leading, supplying, fighting and perpetuating the fear and the fighting.
O’Brien said.
As Yemen’s doctors have not been paid salaries for nearly a year, the UN has stepped in and issued emergency salaries to medical professionals to prevent the spread of cholera.
