Iran will be victorious in any potential war: Lebanese cleric

The Administrative Council of Lebanon’s Association of Muslim Scholars issued a statement in which they criticized the leadership style of the new President of the United States, Donald Trump, and said, "the new American government’s domestic and foreign policies have sounded the alarm over fears of a regional and world and even civil war in this country," Taqrib News Agency (TNA) quoted Rasa as saying.

The Association added that the US’ threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran were dishonest actions that would have serious consequences noting, “Trump could trigger a war but he certainly won’t have the ability to end it and certainly Iran will be victorious in this war because it’s about aggression and oppression.”

This Association, which is composed of Shi’ah and Sunni clerics, also condemned the recent terrorist attack in France, wherein a man wielding a knife attempted to enter Paris’ Louvre Museum stressing, “The French government should be practical and take proactive steps to eliminate terrorists in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen until the security situation in these countries calms down. Otherwise a serious crisis in pending these countries.”

They honoured a resistance operation on February 2nd by a Palestinian woman who rammed her vehicle into a police car and into the entrance gate of Geva Binyamin, a West Bank settlement near occupied East Jerusalem, and made clear that such an operation is the best reaction to the crimes of the Zionist regime and also demonstrate that the so-called peace talks are just a big illusion.
“Resistance is the only way to liberate Palestine,” they noted in their statement.

At the end of the statement, the Association of Muslim Scholars emphasized the necessity to pass the new electoral law in Lebanon and said the law proposed by the government of former Prime Minister Najib Miqati could be the best solution at the current juncture.

“As long as the law of full proportional representation based on Lebanon being composed of a single electoral district is contested by some groups, this proposal can be considered the best law,” they said.
