Tehran's interim Friday prayer leader:

US, major violator of human rights

Top Iranian scholar has slammed the US President for his neutral stance over racist attacks in the country calling Washington as the major violator of human rights in the world.
US, major violator of human rights
'US should be ashamed of commenting on the status of human rights in other countries,' Tehran Interim Friday Prayers leader Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said on Friday in a reference to Washington's anti-Iranian sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic under the pretext of violation of human rights.

Elaborating his stance on recent murder of Shia Muslims in Afghanistan, he slammed the killings, adding that Iran supports both the Shias and Sunnis.

Iran's support for the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Sunni resistance movements in Palestine in Gaza serve as good evidence, he said.

Khatami also referred to recent terrorist attacks in Spain and said: 'If humanity, in particular the European nations want to get rid of the plight of terrorism, they should press their governments for stopping support for these criminal gangs.

Barcelona was the scene of a deadly terrorist attack, claimed by Daesh on Thursday night in which a car rammed into pedestrians, killing 13 people and injuring more than 100.

In another attack the same night Spanish police were targeted at a check point. On Friday morning, just hours after the previous attacks, six people were hurt when a car drove into them in Cambrils, 120 kilometers south of Barcelona.
