“All enemy’s plans for the Middle East have been defeated,” Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said on Monday, adding, “When they saw conditions in Syria and Iraq, they reached the conclusion that if those conditions continued, there would be no sign of Israel. This is why they created Daesh and [other] terrorist groups.”

He added that the resistance forces and Iranian military advisors were eliminating Daesh terrorists hand in hand.

Having witnessed the influential role played by the Iranian forces, the US decided to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization and then it announced that it would just impose sanctions on it, but Washington is sure to suffer another defeat in this regard, the senior IRGC commander said.

Pakpour pointed to enemy’s increasing threats against the country and emphasized that Iranian military forces must adopt measures to improve their capabilities and preparedness “so that the enemy will not make any miscalculation.”

The US Treasury Department announced on October 15 that it was planning to introduce new sanctions against the IRGC as a part of US President Donald Trump’s supposedly new diplomatic offensive against Tehran, which he unveiled on October 13 by refusing to certify the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries.

In his latest anti-Iran speech, Trump accused the IRGC of destabilizing the Middle East and threatening American interests in the region.

Following Trump’s announcement, the US Treasury added the IRGC to its anti-terrorism sanctions list, claiming in a statement that the elite military force was “providing support to a number of terrorist groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas, as well as to the Taliban."
