“The US president should be ashamed of all the schemes and plots he had hatched against Iran but had failed to achieve any results. Now he has begun a new game,” Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Saturday.

He went on to add, “it was obvious that no one at the UN found Trump’s remarks acceptable, but we need to realize the reason behind Trump’s words, which was to please the heads of certain reactionary states in the Middle East as he has plundered hundreds of billions of resources in Islamic countries.”

“He is delusional,” if he thinks he can win this game, Larijani said, adding “because this is the same Iran which has withstood against lines of hostile countries for years.”

Elsewhere, Larijani noted Trump’s accusation of Iran on backing terrorist groups, saying “this is the most ridiculous remark that Trump made at the UN. Are they truly blind to see that it is only Iran fighting against ISIL in Iraq and Syria? How can Iran be backing terrorists on the one hand, and fighting them on the other? How is this logical at all?”

“They [Americans] know it too that Trump’s accusation is absurd and only serves to manipulate the world’s public opinion,” Larijani said, adding “but they will not succeed, because Iran has chosen the right path and will advance on this path with full strength.”
