Cleric stresses Islamic proximity as top necessity
Hujjat-ul-Islam Mahdi Farmanian, member of the academic board at the University of Religions and Denominations in the holy city of Qom, in an interview with RASA News Agency highlighted importance of Islamic proximity counting security, solidarity and economic growth as the most vital objectives for the world of Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He expressed regret that the sectarian wars have provided the grounds for the US to make the best of the opportunity for its interests and dissuade Shia and Sunni younger generation with Islam.

The cleric said the present ambiance has discouraged the Muslim youths leading them to blame the holy religion for the current chaotic situation and join Takfiri terrorist groups as a solution.

“If we can prevent more wars, maintain security, promote economic situation and also prevail Islamic proximity, then we can boast to have made a move” he said.

The cleric called political issues as the major reason for Islamic proximity not growing enough and said,” Through history Islamic proximity has promoted once Muslims have arrayed against common enemies while once politico-religious figures were empowered then religious governments have dispersed rather than joining each other and that has led to intensification of religious disagreements.”

Hujjat-ul-Islam Mahdi Farmanian rejected the view of some Muslim scholars that if they follow Islamic unity then their determination and popularity is shaken; therefore, they have to intensify the disagreements between different denominations.

Iranian cleric called religious leaders to join each other against common enemies of Islam vowing that once interaction among religious scholars is boosted, the resulting proximity will benefit all.
