Iranian senior cleric attended the tenth interfaith dialogue in Moscow blaming weak spirituality as the reason behind spread of extremism in the world.

Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, senior advisor of the Supreme Leader in Muslim world affairs, attended the tenth interfaith dialogue between Christian Orthodox Church and Muslims held in the Russian capital of Moscow on Monday warning against extremist groups as people with no religion, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He referred to more than two decades behind Islam-Christianity interfaith dialogue between Iran and Russia vowing that the move which began in 1996 can bring positive fruits for the people in Iran and Russia.
 
Patriarch Kirill, senior bishop of Orthodox Church in Russia, in a message to the tenth religious meeting with Iran stressing the importance of interfaith meetings and necessity of mutual cooperation among religions in line with counter-terrorism.
 
Abouzar Torkaman, head of Iran’s Organization of Culture and Islamic Relations in this meeting warned against a utilitarian approach on religions calling interfaith dialogue as the best solution for present issues.
 
He highlighted necessity of confronting desecration of religions and relating them with extremism, a new trend for some western media.
 
Bishop Hilarion, head of the foreign bureau of Orthodox Church in Russia noted,” Monotheist religions have no commonality with terrorism and extremism and that has always been stressed bu Christian Orthodox Church in Russia.”
 
He referred to peace and tranquility as gifts of monotheist religions for humanity saying,” Terrorism does not have a humane face and to relate that with religions is a big mistake.”
Top Christian figure called for launching educational centers to teach followers of all religions warning them against threats of terrorism.”
 
Tenth meeting of Islam and Orthodox Christianity is underway in Moscow to discuss interfaith dialogue and cooperation of religions as means to achieve sustained peace.
 
The biannual meeting aims creation and boosting mutual understanding between Islam and Orthodox Christianity and also expansion of ties to solve common human issues.
