Ayatollah Araki:

Islamic unity should turn to a popular demand

Renowned Iranian scholar in a meeting with Pakistan endowment minister stressed Islamic unity saying that the principle should turn into a popular demand among Muslims.
Islamic unity should turn to a popular demand
Grand Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, met with Atta Muhammad Manika, Minister of Auqaf and Religious Affairs, saying that one Islamic unity turns into a popular demand of all people then Islamic proximity is achieved, reported Taqrib news Agency (TNA).

He said,” We expect the political and renowned figures of Islamic states to set Islamic unity on top of their agenda.” wondering why should not Muslims launch a union while European countries have taken the step long ago.

Iranian scholar said, “By unity we do not mean that all Islamic states mingle or that their political power is tarnished, rather we mean they form a union similar to the European Union so that Muslim states turn into a single power in the world and manage their own issues amongst themselves.”

Top cleric referred to the issues of Palestine and Kashmir as two problems maintained by all Muslim countries noting that if all Islamic countries were united there would have been no issue like Kashmir or Palestine.

According to the cleric formation of a union among Islamic states could have handled financial issues so that assets of Muslim countries were not invested in non-Muslim states.

Ayatollah Araki hailed Pakistani scholars for their leading role in Islamic unity across the world and demanded religious figures in all Muslim countries, particularly, Pakistani figures, propose solutions for realization of Islamic solidarity.
