Violence erupted near the Qalandiya checkpoint, where Israeli troops fired rubber-coated steel bullets at the Palestinian mourners when the funeral event turned into a protest rally against the Israeli occupation on Tuesday afternoon, Ma’an news agency reported.

According to the report, most of those injured were transferred to Ramallah medical complex and others were treated by medics at the scene.

More than 10,000 people took part in the funeral procession, which was held for Mahmoud Adwan, a 21-year-old Palestinian killed during a raid by Israeli troops against the Qalandiya refugee camp earlier in the day.

The protesters called for retaliatory measures against the occupation forces and hoisted Palestinian flags as some masked participants fired shots in the air.

Meanwhile, a general strike was observed in Qalandiya, Kafr Aqab, Samirameis, and the Umm al-Sharayt area north of the occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem) to protest Adwan’s killing.

The latest Palestinian casualty at the hands of the Israeli regime forces followed the release of a report by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, saying that Tel Aviv is pressing ahead with its systematic attacks against Palestinians.

The Israeli aggression has infuriated Palestinians in the West Bank, leading to clashes on an almost daily basis.
