“Woman in Qur’an” unveiled

Latest book by two Iranian women details the Islamic view on the character, status and rights of the women based on Qur’an.

“Woman in Qur’an” is the title for book coauthored by Haleh Husseini Akbarnejad and Zahra Shooshtari published by bureau for promotion of Islamic teachings in Iran, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The book, in five sections, is written with a reference to major Islamic sources and books by renowned Islamic thinkers.
 
The first chapter of the book, on major principles of Qur’an on man and woman, is about creation of man and woman and sameness of the fact out of which they are created despite the physical and mental differences between them. Based on that, there is no gender gap in the reward for the good deeds, spiritual ascendance and also ideological and moral distractions in man and woman.
 
Title for the second section is an analysis on canonization of man and woman in a family. In this section, the approach of holy Qur’an on marriage and family and also status of women in the basic social unit of family is explained. Fourteen chapters in this section include marriage as basis of family in view of Qur’an, basis and principles of marriage, status of women in productivity and protection of generations in view of Qur’an, principles to choose a spouse, women and principles of family in view of Qur’an and etc….
 
Analysis of canonization of man and woman in society is the topic for the third section in this book relates on economic independence of women, migration and allegiance, heritage, punishment and martyrdom of women.
 
Hijab and coverage of women is the title for the fourth section in the book “Women in Qur’an”. Authors, in this section focus on chastity which demands both genders to maintain the virtue though different in form based on the gender. Hijab and dressing codes are two of the most important topics discussed in different societies.
 
The concluding section of the book is a view on prominent women in Qur’an including Saint Mary, Hazrat Zahra (AS), daughter of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Queen of Sheba and other Qur’anic and biblical figures.
