In his Friday prayer sermon to a large and fervent crowd of believers in Qom’s Quds Prayer Hall, Ayatollah Seyyed Hashem Hoseyni-Bushehri offered his congratulations on the birth anniversary of the eighth infallible Imam, Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha and said, “Imam al-Ridha became the imam at 35 years of age and his imamate lasted 20 years. Because of their spiritual base and popularity, the Shi’ah imams were always subject to the hatred and jealousy of the tyrants of their time.”
 
The member of the board of directors of the Assembly of Experts referring to Thursday’s inauguration ceremony of Iranian president Hasan Rouhani in the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and stated, “The system of the Islamic Republic of Iran has two dimensions – Islamism and republicanism and the presence of people at the ballot box signifies their acceptance of the elected person and according to the constitution, the presidency will be validated by the leadership to give it legitimacy.”

According to Rasa, he said that the Supreme Leader said that the vote of the nation and its validation would be dependent on protecting and adhering to the commitment and movement on the straight path of Islam and added, “In his speech, the Leader presented a comparison of the era before and after the Islamic Revolution, saying that before the revolution people didn’t have a role and they were spectators, but after the revolution, they participated through various means in the elections and in other arenas.”

Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri has pointed out that the Supreme Leader expressed three important aims which should be at the forefront of the actions of the president – addressing the problems and livelihoods of the people, engaging with the world and striving against the hegemonic powers, especially against the United States.

The member of the Supreme Council of the Seminary added: “That which is important instead the words and positions of the Supreme Leader is the binding of the actions of the people. The enemies want the Islamic Republic to be isolated and contrary to their view, we must be present in all fields. Those who take responsibility must not surrender but rather they must stand against the enemies’ hostility and conspiracies.”

He stressed that the protection of the divine trusts, abundant work, use of opportunities and the prioritization of works and programs, justice, the elimination of poverty and corruption, progress based upon a plan, maintaining the unity of the nation and avoiding duplicity, the acceptance and tolerance of criticisms, presence among the people, not being satisfied with reports and recognising the magnitude of the revolutionary forces were among the most important recommendations of the Supreme Leader to the President Rouhani and the twelfth administration.

Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri added the Supreme Leader said if a problem for the country came up, the revolutionary forces would be heartbroken and remain on the battlefield and defend the Islamic system, the revolution and Islam. 

He emphasized that in international engagement, one should not neglect the enemies and must also be strong in the economic and in cultural fields.
 
Referring to the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage which begins on August 30th, Qom’s Friday prayer leader said, “Fortunately, the current conditions of the Hajj are good and we hope that with the agreements that have been made, we will witness a Hajj which will take place with prosperity, comfort, dignity and security.”

In conclusion, Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri referred to the anniversary of the US bombing of the Japanese city of Hiroshima, which occurred on August 6, 1945, and said, “The atomic bombing of Hiroshima is a dark stain on the US’ human rights claims as it led to the death and wounding of 160,000 people.”
