Abed Fattahi, head of the Sunni fraction in Iran’s Parliament, hailed the numerous commonalities of Shia and Sunni Muslims and noted that the path to Islamic unity is through commonalities of the Islamic denominations, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” Ahlul Bayt (AS), household of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) are the inspirations of solidarity and neither Shia nor Sunni Imams have called their followers to dispersion or division.”
 
He rejected the need for conversion of Muslims to other denominations and called for alleviation of religious provocations and that Muslims are not trapped by plots dictated from outside their communities.
 
Iranian MP expressed regret that Muslim countries are through their most catastrophic era in history when all spots of Islamic geography is in some way plagued with war and called for highlighting shared belongings of Muslims as well as ignoring the minor disagreements in order to boost Islamic unity.
 
He referred to China and India as countries with over 30 diverse denominations where the people are living in full coexistence while Muslims, with one holy book, Qibla (praying direction) and prophet have not made it to reach solidarity.
 
He stressed necessity of practicing Qur’anic guidelines as strategy for realization of unity among all Muslims and added,” Islamic unity has led to resolution of the Muslim world preventing enemies to make the least atrocity against Islamic countries.
 
Abed Fattahi called all Muslims to take steps in line with Islamic unity reiterating that as a mission necessitated by God Almighty.
