Jordan says it is recalling its ambassador to Iran for consultations citing alleged "meddling by Iran in Arab countries's affairs" as reason.
Jordan recalls envoy to Tehran for consultation
Jordanian government spokesman, Mohammad Momani, who is also minister of state for media affairs and communications, said on Monday that Amman took the step because of Iran’s alleged interference in the “internal affairs of Arab countries.”

In comments published by the state news agency, Petra, Momani claimed that Iran has “not responded” to calls by Jordan and others to respect the sovereignty of Arab states.

Jordan is the latest Arab country to recall its envoy from Tehran since Saudi Arabia severed ties with the Islamic Republic last January after angry demonstrators protesting Riyadh's execution of Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr attacked Saudi embassy in Tehran and its consulate in the northeastern city of Mashhad.

Following suit with Riyadh, Djibouti, Bahrain, and Sudan severed ties with Iran, Jordan called in Iran’s envoy in Amman for explanations on the incidents, Kuwait recalled its ambassador, and the United Arab Emirates announced a partial downgrade in diplomatic relations with Tehran. Qatar also recalled its ambassador to Tehran.
