Trump’s hatred of Obama achievements targets JCPOA

American MIT researcher referred to likely withdrawal of Donald Trump from Iran’s nuclear deal with P 5+1 and that the hatred of the US President for the historical agreement is that the achievement has been made under the former administration of Obama.
Trump’s hatred of Obama achievements targets JCPOA
John Tirman, Executive Director & Principal Research Scientist at MIT Center for International Studies noted the motivation of Donald Trump of all things achieved by ex-president Barak Obama counting the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as a major accomplishment of the former administration, Taqrib News Agency (TNA) has quoted Persia Digest as saying.

He noted the right wing’s distrust of Islamic Republic and that the deal is (allegedly) masking covert activities aimed at producing a nuclear weapon.

MIT researcher touched upon Trump’s echoing of the right wing abhorrence of the nuclear agreement saying,” Trump is motivated by his hatred of all things Obama accomplished, and JCPOA is Obama’s major foreign-policy achievement.”

A major question on likelihood of Washington’s breach of JCPOA, John Tirman said he expected Trump to withdraw from the deal since it is his pattern and counted the neocons, the Israeli lobby and some in the national security community, whose influence is larger than their number as a part of those against JCPOA in the US in contrast to those who favor remaining in the deal, though not a friend of Iran.

When asked on the possible consequences of the US withdrawal from JCPOA he said,” A lot depends on Iran and how the IRI reacts in that event.  The worst case is if Iran makes moves toward weaponization—such as enriching uranium to 20% or more—and the U.S. or Israel use that as a rationale for a military attack on Iran.”

In view of John Tirman other five parties of the P5+1 have so far proved their commitment to the deal as far as Iran complies.

John Tirman is the executive director and a principal research scientist at MIT's Center for International Studies. Tirman is author, or coauthor and editor, of fourteen books on international affairs, including, most recently, Dream Chasers: Immigration and the American Backlash (MIT Press, 2015) and The Deaths of Others: The Fate of Civilians in America’s Wars.
