Majority of Americans oppose compensating Israel over Iran accord

The poll by Google Consumer Surveys found that 67.8 percent of Americans oppose any sort of compensation to Israel, while only 12.8 percent support it.
Only 7.9 percent of respondents said they support increasing annual US aid to Israel from $3.5 billion to $5 billion.
Furthermore, the survey found that just 4.1 percent of Americans agree with giving Israel deep penetrating “bunker buster” bombs, 4 percent support providing Israel with B-52 bombers, and 3.4 percent support releasing Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard.
The Obama administration is reportedly offering an increased aid package to Israel in order to reduce Tel Aviv’s opposition to the nuclear agreement reached between Iran and the P5+1 group- the US, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany.
According to anonymous sources, President Barack Obama told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a phone conversation that Washington is willing to bolster the Israeli security with increased military aid.
However, Netanyahu has dismissed the notion that Israel wants to be compensated for the Iran accord that it fiercely opposes. Israel currently receives the largest share of the total US foreign aid.
Israel and its supporters in the US Congress are attempting to block the nuclear agreement.
Obama, however, has vowed to veto any congressional resolution seeking to reject the nuclear accord.
At a news conference in Ethiopia, he accused the GOP presidential candidates of playing “fast and loose” with the facts to kill the Iran agreement.
