Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi said in the 2nd sermon of this week’s Tehran Friday prayers that this year’s anniversary of that event, which is named the Day for Campaign against the Global Oppression, coincides with the anniversary of the sad martyrdom of Imam Hussain (P) in Karbala, that is the essence of the entire divine prophets’ efforts.

“The US has very shameful files in dealing with all world nations, with its own nation, and especially with the Iranian nation,” added Seddiqi.

He said that the US crimes in Iran include the shameful 1953 coup against Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq, establishment of the ousted Mohammad Reza Shah’s horrendous intelligence service, SAVAK, and urging the Shah era Parliament to secretly and overnight ratify the shameful Capitulation Law.

He referred to the fiery reaction of the late Imam Khomeini (P) to the ratification of that law in an address in Qom, which led first to his arrest and then to his deportation to Turkey.

Hojjatoleslam Seddiqi also referred to the US role in 1988 massacre of the Iranian school students, the September 8 massacre of the demonstrators in Tehran’s former Zhaleh (Shohada) Square, the Americans’ role in post-revolution riotings in Iran, the US role in the Iraqi imposed war and contributions to Saddam during that war, shooting down the Iranian passenger plane, the aborted Nozheh Air Base coup, and the like.

The interim Friday prayer imam of the Iranian capital city said that turning the US embassy into an espionage den was another registered crime of the United States, from where plots were incessantly hatched against the Iranian revolutionary system, which was why the university students captured it.
