Iran releases list of home-made bio-tech medicines
Iran has released the list of 29 domestically bio-tech medicines under production in line with its self sufficiency policies.

Mostafa Ghane’ei, head of Pasteur Institute of Iran, in an interview with Mehr News Agency said the country has set the production of 61 biotech medicines on top of its agenda with 29 items in pre-final stage of production at knowledge base companies.
He announced a 5 year span for appearance of the medicines in the market with China and Japan as the rival countries standing as the third rank in Asia.
This is while head of Iran’s Pasteur Institute ranked Iran as the fourth country in production of biotech medicines making move one step ahead to their third rank following the production of aforesaid items in the next five years.
Member of the bureau at presidential deputy of science and technology said out of the 61 medicines prioritized on the list, 20 medicines have been domestically produced, 29 are under research and production and the remaining 12 are in a waiting list for volunteer companies to announce preparation for production of the items.
The total number of biotechnology medicines available in the world market stands at 146 out of which 20 are accessible in Iran, 4 monoclonal and 16 polyclonal antibodies.
Bio-technology has turned into a challenging yet generic field in regards to bringing self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship leading to a change for economic improvement across the globe.
The achievement though has reached a satisfactory level in regional and global business advancements for Iran during the past 15 years. While bio-tech researches were launched in other countries long ago in comparison with the young age of studies in the Islamic Republic of Iran, beginning only after 1978 revolution, the country has made praiseworthy advancements in the field.
