Netanyahu behind Congress's anti-Iran moves: Jeff Steinberg
An American political commentator believes that anti-Iran measures taken by Congress over the country’s nuclear deal might have been taken on behalf of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The actions of these members of Congress might have been taken on behalf of Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel,” Jeff Steinberg, a senior editor at Executive Intelligence Review, said in a phone interview with Press TV on Sunday.
He added that a letter by Congress over the prospect of a nuclear deal between the West and Iran should not be taken as a serious obstacle to a final agreement.
The analyst also expressed hope over the prospect of the deal, saying such letters “should not be an impediment to a final agreement.”
“This is all part of the hardball politics in Washington,” said Steinberg.
A group of ۴۳ Republican senators, led by Mark Kirk and Marco Rubio, wrote to President Barack Obama on Wednesday that they were worried by "reports that your administration plans to circumvent Congress and unilaterally provide significant sanctions relief under a comprehensive nuclear agreement with Iran.”
Steinberg said, “I don’t think these are absolute obstacles to an agreement, because everybody is more or less operating on the basis of profile and nobody is particularly surprised that Rubio and Kirk had issued such a letter they’ve been talking about it for days and weeks.”
“A legitimate deal can be reached, can be verified and over time what the administration believes is that Congress and the American people will see that Iran is abiding by the agreement,” he added.
During the latest negotiations in Vienna, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held trilateral talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry and EU negotiator Catherine Ashton.
Kerry arrived in Vienna on Thursday and insisted that the talks were focused on a deal before the Nov. 24 deadline.
