Top cleric calls for response to US ban bills

Iranian jurisprudent Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani lectured strongly US Senate for its recent move in approving a sanctions bill targeting the Islamic Republic, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Making his remarks in a gathering of Basij (volunteer) forces in the holy city of Qom the grand Ayatollah, "US government is involved in acts of bullying, perpetrating crimes, betraying and plundering.”

“The US violated the 2015 nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)” pointed out the religious cleric noting the Americans never respect other countries’ rights.

He further called on the Iranian officials to take reciprocal measures against the US Senate's decision to impose new sanctions on Tehran.

Under the JCPOA signed between Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China - plus Germany, Iran undertook to put limitations on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.

Washington has so far imposed two rounds of sanctions on Iran under the new US administration over the country’s missile program.
