An Iranian MP noted Iran’s emphasis on leading diplomatic solutions for the situation in Syria.

Seyyed Hussein Naqavi Husseini, speaker of the National Security and Foreign Policy in Iran’s Parliament in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) said there is no guarantee that the insurgents submit their chemical weapons if the government does so.

He said,” There is no guarantee that if Syrian government submits its weapons, the insurgents would take the same measure.” And added,” We remind Syrians that Americans are not trustable and if there are no international guarantees then submission of chemical weapons would only weaken Syrian government.”

When asked on the role of Iran in solving the situation in Syria he said,” If the problems between Iran and western countries are solved then that would be a great help to solving the crisis in Syria.”

He stressed that Islamic Republic of Iran has always stressed diplomatic solutions for Syria crisis and added,” In case the relations between Iran and western countries are improved then they will show more tendency to diplomatic solutions for the situation in Syria.”
