Iranian former ambassador:

Japanese premier visit to Tehran should restore Washington commitment to JCPOA

12 Jun 2019 - 14:16

Regarding Japan’s economic growth, it is high time that Tokyo pursues its full independence from Washington and puts an end to US occupation policy in the Asian country.

Mohammad Hassan Ghadiri Abyaneh, former Iranian ambassador to Australia and Mexico referred to the forthcoming visit to be made by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Tehran stressing that the historical trip should lead to returning US to JCPOA, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said,” Trump has urged Japan to mediate between Tehran and Washington though Iran’s welcoming for the event is not over building the relations between the Islamic republic and the United States but within the framework for bilateral ties hence it should lead to restring US commitments to JCPOA.”

He added,” Japan, based on a demand made by Washington will bring forth the topic of talks and the clear reply by Iran is rejection since the US does not have the qualifications for that.”

Mohammad Hassan Ghadiri Abyaneh stressed,” The first condition for negotiation is that the sides are committed to their agreements while the US has proved it is not committed to any international agreement.”

Iranian political expert said,” Iran will endeavor to make the best of the opportunity to expand its ties with Japan.”

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will be visiting Tehran on Wednesday to discuss the regional and international issues. This is the first visit to be  made by Japanese top authorities in four decades since the victory of Islamic revolution.
