Senior Iraqi cleric lauded late Iranian cleric and advisor of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri for building culture of tolerance for the opposite side and also his endeavors for promoting the approach across the globe.
Sheikh Kahlid al-Mala, chairman of the society of Sunni scholars in Iraq, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA), detailed his views on the high character of top Iranian scholar and former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought as a flag of the Islamic nation and a role model for Islamic awakening.
Iraqi Sunni cleric in this conducted on the wake of the first passing anniversary of late Ayatollah Taskhiri said,” A key achievement by the late cleric was promotion of the culture of tolerance for opposite viewpoints.”
He noted,” It is quite natural that the religions, denominations and races have differences but it is vital that people tactfully manage these differences so that hostility, revenge and clashes do not emerge out of these differences.”
Sheikh Khalid al-Mala highlighted that the renowned fatwa (religious decree) by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei forbidding desecration of Sunni sanctities was promoted in Sunni-inhibited regions in Iraq due to the endeavors of the late cleric Ayatollah Taskhiri.
He hailed late Ayatollah Taskhiri for respecting those with opposite views even if disrespected by some people and also his long years of promoting Islamic unity.
“Endeavors by late Ayatollah Taskhiri will set him as an everlasting symbol in history of Islam” said the Iraqi scholar and proposed that the upcoming Islamic Unity Conference be held in memory of the great scholar.
