Director of al-Aqsa Mosque denounced Israeli regime for ignoring the UNESCO resolutions banning excavation of Bab al Mugharibah, also known as the Silwan Gate.
Sheikh Omar al-Kiswani, in an interview with Al-Alam, said al-Aqsa Mosque belongs to Muslims and that the holy site is not dividable, reported Taqrib news Agency (TNA).
He referred to the attacks by Israeli forces during Ramadan and said the aim behind that was to provoke Palestinians and intensify the situation in al-Quds.
The cleric noted that Israeli claims regarding efforts to maintain peace in Al Quds during the fasting month of Ramadan is a lie because the reality is vast array of Israeli police force, setting up more checkpoints and imposing limitation on the age of worshipers to the holy mosque.
He said,” Detaining guardians of mosques will not discourage us fulfilling our responsibilities towards the holy site hoping that many worshipers will attend the mosque.”
Omar al-Kiswani in part of his remarks addressed the Palestinians calling them to head for the al-Aqsa Mosque during the fasting month of Ramadan.
He also addressed the Arab and Muslim rulers across the globe urging them to fulfill their duties in regards to the holy al-Aqsa Mosque.
