The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought highlighted the achievements of the annual Islamic Unity Conference on the eve of the 38th edition of the event.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) conducted ahead of the 38th Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran said the conference has built a discourse of unity among the Muslim elites from across the world.
He said an increasing number of the speeches are received at the secretariat of the conference which has expanded our usual schedule for the conference.
The cleric added that the model of the Islamic Unity Conference held by Iran is now followed by other countries and now the Islamic proximity discourse is expanding across the world.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari added that the webinars held as part of the conference would provide an opportunity for the scholars to attend the event that might be held simultaneous with their special programs for the Islamic Unity Week.
The senior Iranian cleric also referred to the importance of Palestine issue which is set as a key theme on the agenda of the conference amid the ongoing Israeli massacre of the civilians in the besieged Gaza.
The 38th Islamic Unity Conference entitled "Islamic cooperation to achieve common values with an emphasis on the Palestinian issue" is scheduled to be held in the capital Tehran on September 19-21.
More than 200 Shia and Sunni religious leaders, intellectuals and university professors will attend the event in person.
