The president of Imam Jafar Sadeq University in Baghdad has called for conferences and meetings of the Muslim countries to reach a consensus on how to confront western ideologies.
Professor Ibrahim Riyadh Khalil al-Tamimi made the remarks in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) conducted on the sideline of the first international conference on ‘Human Dignity and Family Challenges in Modern World’ held in Iran’s holy city of Mashhad.
He stressed the mission of the academics and university professors to prepare themselves, in all aspects of life in order to challenge new threats creeping into the Muslim society.
The Iraqi thinker said,” Our youths, unfortunately, are blindly imitating, through media smartphones and social networks, the western beliefs which are destructive and dangerous to our Islamic society.”
Ibrahim Riyadh Khalil al-Tamimi hailed the conference on ‘Human Dignity and Family Challenges in Modern World’ and said,” We need more conferences to create a consensus on how to struggle western ideologies affecting our societies and our youths, particularly the university students.”
A number of academics and university professors attended the first edition of the international conference on human dignity.
Two other editions of the meeting will be hosted in the Turkish city of Istanbul and the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
