A Lebanese analyst says the US and Israeli regime have never thought of ending the war unless when the field developments are not in their interest.
Talal Etrisi, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) referred to a change in the rhetoric of Amos Hochstein, US special envoy to Lebanon, stressing that the field is the effective factor in deciding the conditions for ceasefire.
He also referred to the heavy fighting between the resistance fighters and Israeli forces in southern Lebanon and noted that the regime sought achievements in order to use them as a bargaining chip in the ceasefire talks.
He said,” Israeli regime counts the assassination of resistance leaders, namely Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, as a big achievement while the regime has made no significant gain in the field.”
The Lebanese thinker said,” The assassination of resistance leaders, once viewed as a big gain for the occupying Israeli forces, brought no specific benefit for the regime since the only effective factor is the battleground and the Israeli regime pays a heavy toll in the field.”
The professor of Beirut University also related on the reasons behind Hochstein’s visits to the region and said,” The US and Israeli regime have never considered a ceasefire in the region unless when the developments in the field are in contrast with their objectives or they pay a heavy toll in the field.”
According to Talal Etrisi, the US sent Hochstein because it presumed the assassination of the resistance leaders would accelerate the ground invasion by the Israeli regime forces.
The Lebanse analyst emphasized that the developments in the field prove that Hezbollah resistance movement is still capable of imposing its conditions saying,” Hezbollah does not admit any condition to be imposed on Lebanon as the parliament speaker, Nabih Berri has sent the draft of the agreement sent by the US to Hezbollah for a review and making the necessary changes.”
Etrisi said,” What the Israeli regime is seeking in Gaza, according to the Israeli prime minister, includes elimination of Hamas and release of the captives and in Lebanon it is pursuing elimination of Hezbollah and disarmament of the resistance movement ahead of changing the Middle East.”
He concluded,” We are witness to a genocide, massacre of women and children, targeting of hospitals and religious institutions by the Israeli regime but it is the first time in history that the Israeli regime cannot immediately achieve its objectives, the occupied territories come under missile strike and the settlers are evacuating the occupied lands.”
