Director of Sunni seminary in Northern Khorasan Province praised Islamic Revolution in Iran led by late Imam Khomeini (RA) for bringing full religious freedom to Sunni community.
Haj Baba Akhoond Makhdoomi, director of Pouladin Sunni Seminary, in Bojnourd, in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) referred to the troubles of Sunni community before Islamic Revolution in Iran saying the landmark was a turning point for prosperity of Sunni seminaries and mosques, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said, ”Before the revolution, there were quite a few unknown Sunni mosques and seminaries while the freedom of Sunni Muslims in post-revolution era led to an outstanding growth of the community.”
He praised Imam Khomeini (RA) Relief Committee for helping poor Sunni families and said Sunni Muslims owe these services to the late founder of Islamic Revolution.
He also called Imam Khomeini (RA) as the perfect example of unity among Muslims and added,” Late Imam Khomeini (RA) took unique measures for unity among Muslims calling them to solidify in one body.”
According to the Sunni director of Bojnourd the present Muslim unity in the world is owed to the Week of Islamic Unity, which was an inspiration of Imam Khomeini (RA) protecting Muslims from the enemies.
Akhoond Makhdoumi lauded unity among Shia Sunni Muslims in Raz and Jargalan county and said,” Muslim scholars in this area stress their commonalities including God Almighty, Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), one praying direction, shared holy book and other common assets.”
He noted that the efforts of both Shia and Sunni Muslims in the area are focused on prosperity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and spread of Islam based on their unique solidarity.
