OIC criticizes sacrilege of Syria religious sites

Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed deep concern over the acts of destruction and vandalization against religious sites and houses of worship in Syria.


Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of OIC, criticized desecration of Islamic holy sites including the recent attack and destruction of the mausoleum of Hujr Ibn Adi, a disciple of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and called for immediate action for its restoration, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

The Secretary General reiterated the OIC’s principled position against attacks and desecration of religious symbols, places of worship and holy sites.

He added that the OIC has always upheld tolerance and respect for religious symbols and has condemned attacks and destruction of holy sites and places of worship including mosques and churches in the strongest terms.

Head of the biggest Islamic organization called for the respect and protection of Mausoleums, religious sites, mosques and houses of worship in the war-torn country of Syria./HK
