10 Jul 2013 - 9:15

Iranian Majlis Vice Speaker Mohammad-Reza Bahonar says the swearing in ceremony of president-elect Hassan Rohani will be held on August 4, one day after his endorsement ceremony by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Bahonar added that Majlis is prepared to work with the 11th administration to see the affairs of the country advance.

The senior lawmaker described Rohani as a moderate figure and said there were many figures the president-elect could consider to include in his cabinet.

He urged Rohani to spend the remaining time before his inauguration to pick competent individuals for his cabinet.

Bahonar said Majlis would take 10 days to examine the background and past experiences of nominated ministers so as to be prepared for the days-long vote of confidence process.

Rohani emerged victorious in Iran's June 14 presidential election, which was marked by a high voter turnout. He won 50.7 percent of a total of 36, 704, 156 ballots counted.

The Interior Ministry put voter turnout at 72.7 percent.

The Iranian president-elect currently represents Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in the Supreme National Security Council and is also a member of the Expediency Council and the Assembly of Experts. He is the president of the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Research as well.
