Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi has condemned the terrorist attack on the holy shrine of Hazrat Zaynab (AS) in the suburbs of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Araqchi on Saturday called on international circles, particularly Islamic bodies, to fulfill their responsibility toward safeguarding Islamic sanctities and do their best to prevent crimes against humanity, which run counter to international and Islamic regulations.
On Friday, mortar shells hit the holy shrine of Hazrat Zaynab (AS) in the suburbs of the Syrian capital. The shells were fired by the foreign-backed militants operating inside Syria.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to the United Nations, more than 90,000 people have been killed and millions of others displaced due to the foreign-sponsored violence.
Damascus says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.
Several international human rights organizations say the foreign-sponsored militants have committed war crimes in Syria.
