An Iranian oil tanker driver has been kidnapped by unidentified armed men in Afghanistan’s western province of Herat, a local security official says.
The Iranian national, identified by his first name as Younes, had entered Afghanistan on Sunday via Islam Ghaleh border crossing and was kidnapped by four armed men in the Ghourian city in Herat Province, the source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Press TV.
The kidnappers have reportedly transferred the Iranian abductee to an unknown location.
So far, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Armed bandits in Afghanistan usually kidnap foreign nationals to demand ransom.
Several Iranian nationals have so far been kidnapped in that area, but they were released after a while.
