Belarus seeks developing ties with Iran: Deputy FM

Belarus Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Rybakov has described Iran as a key partner, saying Belarusian officials see no limitation to the expansion of friendly ties with the Islamic Republic.


The Belarus official made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Deputy foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Saturday.

He highlighted Iran’s status and voiced his country’s readiness to further develop relations with the Islamic Republic in all sectors.

Sarmadi, for his part, pointed to Tehran-Minsk favorable relations and said Belarus is a friend country which maintains good relations with Iran.

He also said that Iran was resolute in the expansion of ties with the European country.

The two officials also said that Iran and Belarus have vast potentials to enhance cooperation in all sectors and discussed necessary measures to be taken to boost ties.

Iran and Belarus have developed good relations in recent years, particularly in the economic and trade sectors and have signed a number of agreements to shore up bilateral cooperation.

In 2010, Iran inaugurated a large copper wire factory and the second phase of Samand car assembly line in Belarus

Major exports of Belarus to Iran include potash fertilizers, synthetic fibers and synthetic fiber cords, while it imports cars, grape, automobile spare parts and tractors from Iran.
