No reduction in Iran’s nuclear activities: AEOI

Spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi says there has been no reduction or halt in the country’s peaceful nuclear energy program.
“I reject [reports of] any reduction or halt in the nuclear activities,” said Kamalvandi in a Monday interview.
“The general process of the country’s peaceful nuclear activities continue vigorously and based on a pre-determined schedule and there has been no halt in any [part] of it,” he pointed out.
The remarks came in response to some media interpretations of the latest quarterly report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran’s nuclear activities on November 14.
The latest IAEA report notes a slowdown, but no reduction in the Islamic Republic’s nuclear activity.
On November 12, AEOI Director Ali Akbar Salehi and the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano signed a joint statement in Tehran on a roadmap for more cooperation on outstanding nuclear issues.
Under the deal, Iran will, on a voluntary basis, allow IAEA inspectors to visit the Arak heavy water plant and the Gachin mine in Bandar Abbas, in southern Iran. The IAEA Safeguards Agreement does not require Tehran to authorize IAEA inspection of these sites.
The United States, Israel and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program with the Israeli regime repeatedly threatening to attack Iran's nuclear facilities based on the unsubstantiated allegation.
Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the IAEA, it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that Iran's civilian nuclear program has been diverted to nuclear weapons production./mrkd
