Israel has embarked on propaganda campaign against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program in a bid to cover up its own dangerous military nuclear activities, an analyst tells Press TV.

“Israel is really running the kind of a propaganda operation, the diversionary kind of operation, in which they are trying to put the world on the trail of everyone except for themselves,” Kevin Barrett said on Tuesday.

He added that Tel Aviv is taking advantage of Iran’s nuclear dossier to shift the world attention away from “Israel’s extremely threatening and reckless nuclear program.”

Israel is widely believed to be the only possessor of nuclear weapons in the Middle East, with an estimated 200-400 nuclear warheads.

The Israeli regime, which rejects all regulatory international nuclear agreements, particularly the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), maintains a policy of deliberate ambiguity over its nuclear activities and refuses to allow its nuclear facilities to come under international regulatory inspections.

“The Israeli nuclear program is the most dangerous program on earth and if the Israelis fail to keep forcing the world’s attention on Iran, the world’s attention may suddenly focus on Israel and the weapons inspectors might even start poking around in Dimona,” Barrett said.

Israel has sharply criticized world powers for agreeing to a nuclear deal with Iran.

Barrett stated that the Israeli regime tried in vain to sabotage the Geneva talks between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China - plus Germany.

“When the Zionists feel that their interests are seriously threatened, they will certainly be doing anything they can to sabotage these talks in [the US] Congress. They do largely own the United States’ Congress, they are able to throw people out of Congress anytime they want,” he said.
