Islamic Republic of Iran is planning to launch its first stem cell factory in line with expanding its two-decade achievements in the field.
Iran’s first stem cell factory is going to be formally launched in the near future following the approval of Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
Many scientists and researchers around the globe have been studying stem cells so that they can utilize their features in order to ensure the human health.
They have managed to use these cells to overcome certain challenges facing the prevention and treatment of complications, Sina Press reported.
Since this issue is vital, Celltech Pharmed Co. was established in 2014 backed by extensive studies on stem cells, biotechnology, nanotechnology and pharmaceuticals, to fulfill the ultimate goal of producing stem cells in mass.
In an interview with Science News Agency, Head of Cell Therapy Center at Iran’s Royan Institute, affiliated to Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research, and COE of Celltech Pharmed Co. Nasser Aghdami, PhD, said that the formal launch of the factory will lead to the decreased costs of cell therapy in our nation.
“So far, no stem cell factory has been launched in the Middle East and if established, Iran will be leader in this regard,” he noted, adding, “This accomplishment will be industrially highly significant since we will be able to step into the market to produce the required products; an issue that will have regionally and globally specific advantages for our country.”
“If we do not waste time, we will fulfill the ultimate goal of generating spare parts of the human body. Also, if financially supported, we will seize opportunities to reach the latest technologies in this area.”
“Currently, a cell is produced and dispatched to the body so that it might repair a specific organ. However, if supported, we will be able to gradually create spare parts of the body outside it, instead of dispatching a cell, and to replace the injured parts with the new products,” the researcher stressed.
The studies has won enthusiastic political and popular supports in the country as it secured the leading stance among all Muslim countries struggling on the topic.
