Saudi cleric blasts Bahrain government for crushing public protests

Saudi scholar blasts Bahrain government’s clampdown on protesters promising that “ the Bahraini people will win definitely at the end of the day.”


“The demands of Bahraini people are in conformity with democratic principles and their victory is eminent,” Sheikh Abdul Karim al-Habil, Saudi Kingdom’s Qateef city Imam said.

Al-Habil stressed that Bahrain events and the crimes committed against its people will hurt freedom-seekers and will never be forgotten.

He said that Bahraini people are seeking the basic rights envisaged by the United Nations and human right organizations, adding that “Bahrainis are our brothers and neighbors”.

Al-Habil condemned attacks on peaceful protests in Manama and said “the remarks and stances taken by Egyptian Islamic theologian Youssef Al-Qarzawi and the Arab League in support of crushing public protests are astonishing.”

He praised the high-turnout of Bahraini people in protests, saying that more than ۶۰ pc of Bahrain nationals have attended the anti-government demonstrations.

In another development, al-Habil also called on Saudi Kingdom to free the prisoners who are held for more than sixteen years immediately.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have dispatched forces in Bahrain to assist the embattled Bahrain government quell protests.
