19 Apr 2020 - 14:56

Although religious minorities, including Muslims, in Europe and the US have been behaved aggressively by extremist political and religious groups following the coronavirus outbreak, they have not withdrawn from their social responsibilities to contribute to their communities amid the battle against the pandemic infection.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 across the globe, Muslims have been among the religious minorities targeted by extremists due to the congregation worshipping ceremonies though Muslims living in western countries have endeavored to correct the tarnished image representing them through charity cooperation and contribution to the public, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

UK Muslims have been struggling in the battle against the new coronavirus pandemic in line with other people.

These efforts include volunteering to help with the patients and health care teams in hospitals to making financial contributions and buying supplies for those in need through mosques and Islamic centers.

Tens of charity institutions and mosques have joined to launch a national campaign to help with battle against the coronavirus as Britain is approaching the first level of coronavirus fatalities among European countries.

According to surveys, British Muslims make the largest religious group in charity activities leading the other minorities in making contribution to their community.

With nearly 1.6 million population in the United Kingdom, almost 4.4 percent of the 67 million Britons, Muslims make the third largest group in the country after Christians and atheists.
