Top cleric referred to mental background for religious extremism calling on educational centers and researchers to focus on the psychological aspect of the issue rather than theoretical studies.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, attended the webinar on lifestyle of Hazrat Zahra (SA) in confrontation with religious and ideological extremism held by World Union of Muslim Women and counted cultural and psychological aspects of extremism, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He slammed the total ignorance when the person is not open to any kind of education or criticism always ready to reject the opposite side.
"The second reason behind extremism is psychological" said the secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and called that a "grave disorder" plaguing the extremists.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari called on educational centers, universities and seminaries to focus on the mental aspects of extremism stressing mental purification as a solution for extremists.
"Society should be cleared of gender, sectarian and religious discrimination" stressed the scholar and urged for prevalence of justice among all," Since Injustice provides the grounds for expansion of extremism."
Held by the World Union of Muslim Women in collaboration with the University of Karbala, scholars and elites from Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and other Muslim countries discussed the issue of extremism in the webinar on the lifestyle of Hazrat Zahra (SA) in confrontation with religious and ideological extremism on Friday.
