Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has censured the Qur'an burning in the southern Sweden city of Malmo and deliberate outraging of Muslims across the globe.

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the recent Quran burning in Malmo, calling it a provocative offense deliberately intended to outrage the feelings of Muslims, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Swedish police had reportedly cancelled the permission issued after Rasmus Paludan, leader of Danish far-right political party Hard Line announced plans for burning a copy of Qur'an near the Friday prayer gathering in Malmo.
 
The plan was carried out by some members belonging to the extremist group and the video of the incident was broadcasted on social networks.
OIC rejected the assault as counterproductive to the global effort to defeat extremism and hatred on grounds of religion and faith.
 
The OIC Islamophobia Observatory (which documents Islamophobic incidents across the world) commended the serious action taken by the Swedish government and detention of the perpetrators.
Major Islamic body has also urged the Muslim community in Sweden to exercise restraint avoid violence and keep a law-based attitude.
The Friday Qur'an burning in Malmo has sparked widespread protests in the city as some participants have turned violent and burned tires and hurled stones at police force.
 
The heinous move has drawn much criticism from different Islamic and religious bodies and top officials across the globe.
 
Organization of Islamic Cooperation has vowed to tackle the desecration of Holy Qur'an through effective implementation of UNHRC resolution 16/18, which provides a comprehensive plan for “combating incitement to hatred, discrimination and violence based on religion and faith”.
