Abraham (PBUH) is among prophets whose story in holy Qur’an and the Bible share the most and is a leading figure commonly loved and respected by Christians, Jews and Muslims hence they are all called as followers of the Abrahamic religions.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Hussein Taheri Akordi, Iranian cleric, author and member of the academy of religions at Imam Khomeini (RA) institute in an interview with Mehr news agency said the stories of Prophet Abraham in holy Bible is commonly confirmed y the Christians and Jews and share the most with the story of prophet in Qur’an, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The cleric in this interview conducted on the eve of Eid al-Adha said the issue of sacrifice in the story of Prophet Abraham (PBUH) is the greatest symbol of thralldom to Almighty God and it is necessary that all Abrahamic religions agree on a behavioral role model and that followers of all Abrahamic religions are standing in the same line rather than being separated.
 
He denounced the Zionists for endeavors to disperse Islam, Christianity and Jeudaism and prove Islam as the religion of violence in contrast to other monotheistic religions as symbols of love, beauty and affection.
 
He hailed Prophet Abraham as the basis of unity among monotheistic religions demanding the followers of all religions to follow his behavioral role model which will prevent all massacres, cheating, homicide and domestic violence.
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Taheri referred to a proposal made by Iran’s President-elect Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi to the Cardinal Secretary of State of Vatican City, Pietro Parolin on naming Eid al-Adha as the day for interaction among Abrahamic religions.
 
He hailed the historical meeting between Pope Francis and Ayatollah Sistani and stressed such meetings should be expanded beyond the political aspect of a meeting or exchange of letters and messages so that the followers of all monotheistic religions unite in denouncing violence or oppression across the globe and such issues are settled by people from different religions.
 
Senior Iranian scholar stressed,” Monotheistic religions can confront their shared enemies and launch a unified front against them all.”
