Supreme Islamic Council of al-Quds warned of Israeli regime aggression against al-Quds Mosque calling on Muslim countries to react against atrocities against the holy site.
Following the recent atrocities by a group of Israeli settlers, the Supreme Islamic Council of al-Quds has issued a message to warn of provocative measures against the Islamic site, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The Supreme Islamic Council noted,” Israeli atrocities on al-Aqsa Mosque, raising Israeli flag, performing Talmudic rituals and playing music in the holy site under the pretext of marking Jewish feasts has reached a warning level.”
The council criticized silence of the Arab and some Islamic countries in regards to Israeli atrocities and stressed,” These atrocities are carried out with the green light of the Israeli security forces.”
The council reiterated that it does not recognize any measure to establish the situation in the interests of the Israeli occupiers.
It urged the Arab and Islamic countries to fulfill their responsibilities in regards to al-Aqsa Mosque.
Nearly 800 Israeli settlers, accompanied by security officers, stormed al-Quds Mosque on Monday raising Israeli flag in a movement seen as “provocative” for Palestinians.
They entered through the Moroccan Gate on the western side of the site, which the Israeli authorities have controlled since the beginning of the occupation of East Jerusalem and the West Bank in 1967.
A settler raised an Israeli flag in the area outside Al-Aqsa Mosque, while Israeli police restricted Palestinians from entering the compound during the settlers' tour.
