Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said Tehran and Riyadh have reached preliminary agreement and that the two sides are expecting finalization of talks.
He said that the preliminary agreements between the two countries have been reached during four rounds of talks.
Saeed Khatibzadeh said that decision on reopening of the embassies will take time for the two sides before Tehran and Riyadh resume activities and that it is possible to start the process for reopening the embassies soon.
This is while Saudi Foreign Minister Saisal bin Farhan said in an interview with Reuters on Saturday that the bilateral talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia have not progressed tangibly.
He also referred to four rounds of talks carried out between Tehran and Riyadh expressing hope that they will produce tangible progress and that “ so far, we have not made sufficient progress to be optimistic.”
Prince Faisal said nothing for another round of talks had been scheduled but Saudi Arabia is “open to continue.”
