Hamas welcomes UN support for a recent UN resolution approving Palestinian people's right to self-determination.
Hazem Qasem, spokesman for Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, in a statement issued on Sunday, lauded the majority vote by countries supporting a recent resolution on the rights of Palestinian people to self-determination.
The United Nations Security Council voted overwhelmingly to approve a draft resolution, introduced on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in favor of Palestinians' self-determination.
The proposal on Friday in the UN General Assembly's Third Committee was approved by a record vote of 158 in favor, 10 abstentions and 6 against.
The Assembly would reaffirm the right of the Palestinian people to an independent state, urging all countries and UN agencies to support them in the early realization of the right to self-determination.
Hamas spokesman also pledged resistance until final victory against the illegal Tel Aviv regime calling for an end to the occupation of Palestinian lands by Israeli regime.
