MWL chief awarded by Maldivian President for his efforts in serving Islam, peace

At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Maldives, Ibrahim Saleh, the delegation of the Muslim World League (MWL), headed by the Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, visited the Republic of Maldives on Tuesday, where they were received in the capital Malé by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmad Khalil and a number of senior officials.


After the meeting, the opening of a regional office of the MWL in the Maldives was announced, in response to the desire of the President of the Republic to be a platform for serving the Maldives and the countries of the region, it will include an exhibition of the Prophet's Biography and training sessions on the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Declaration (The Charter of Makkah). 
 
In appreciation of his efforts in serving Islam and world peace, Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa was awarded by the President of the Republic of Maldives the Order of Honor of the Republic.
 
The coronation ceremony opened with a presidential statement that said: "The honor comes in appreciation of the distinguished efforts made by His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul karim Al-Issa, the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, in promoting Islamic unity, harmony and peace around the world, and strengthening the partnership between the Maldives and the Muslim World League in this regard. In accordance with the powers granted to me by the constitution of the Republic of Maldives, I grant His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul karimAl-Issa, the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, the highest honor in the Republic."
 
On behalf of the government and people of the Maldives, the Maldivian President congratulated Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa for receiving the Medal of Honor, which represents an extension of the ancient legacy left by Sultan Ibrahim, who ruled the Maldives from 1585 to 1609.
 
Dr. Al-Issa thanked the Maldivian President for this honor, which he considered a catalyst for more work to serve Islam and humanity as a whole. 
 
After that, the Secretary General Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa delivered a specialized lecture on "Means of Combating Extremism and Terrorism Intellectually and Electronically", which witnessed a high-level presence, topped by the President of the Republic, the Vice President, the ministers, members of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, officials of national defense and the police, and a number of senior officials, researchers and interested parties. 
 
Dr. Al-Issa also met the leaders of the Ministry of Defense in the Republic of Maldives headed by Minister Mariya Ahmad Didi, where the two sides discussed mechanisms of joint action in combating extremism.
 
Dr. Al-Issa was briefed on the activities of the National Center for Combating Extremism, then held an extensive meeting with the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Minister Ahmad Khalil.
 
This was followed by a joint press conference that touched upon the most important aspects of the visit, which was reported by the media and official government communication platforms. 

 
 
As part of the visit program, Dr. Al-Issa met the Minister of Islamic Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Ahmad Zaher, during which a number of issues of common interest were discussed.
 
Issa also visited the Islamic Center in the capital, Malé, and was briefed on its activities and most prominent works.
 
Dr. Al-Issa delivered a lecture at the headquarters of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, which included "important controls in legal fatwas and religious preaching", attended by the Vice President of the Republic, ministers, imams and muftis, and a group of academics and youth, and it was broadcast on official television and a number of television channels in the region, as well as it was broadcast live on the official government communication platforms, and was followed by an open dialogue with young people on the most prominent issues at the Islamic and international levels.
