Ayat. Sistani condemns Pakistan Shia mosque attack

Bureau of top Iraqi jurist Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sistani has issued a statement on Friday to condemn the explosion at Shia mosque in Peshawar which has led at least 250 people dead and wounded.


Senior Iraqi Shia cleric Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sistani has issued a statement following the deadly explosion at mosque in Kocha Risaldar stressing that as a crime targeting Islamic unity, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
"The holy seminary and senior jurisprudence of Najaf condemns the horrible crime targeting Islamic unity" said the top jurist in his statement calling on Pakistani government to take action to support the people, particularly the religious minority, against oppression and terrorist attacks.
 
He also urged for protection of religious gatherings against violent attacks by extremist groups.
 
The cleric offered condolences with the bereaved families of those killed in the "painful catastrophe" expressing hope for speedy recovery for those injured in the attack.
 
At least 250 worshippers have been killed as deadly explosion rocked Shia mosque when people were gathering for communal prayer on Friday.
