The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) tweeted on Friday that millions of Yemeni children are at risk of starvation if no immediate action is taken in the crisis-ridden Arab country.
In its tweet, UNICEF said: "Yemeni children are at risk of extreme hunger, not because of food shortages, but because of families' inability to pay for groceries."
The United Nations has been warning for months about the growing risk of famine, expressing concern about the severe shortage of funds for humanitarian aid in Yemen, saying the situation has severely reduced the amount of humanitarian aid to millions of Yemen
During a meeting with Ibrahim al-Hamli, secretary-general of the Supreme Council for Administration, Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, the head of the Yemeni Supreme Political Council, Mehdi al-Mashat, stressed that the United Nations is responsible for obliging the aggressors in Yemen to lift the siege completely.
